Fixing to spend some cash on a new sim rig and I would like to know what joystick combos out there right now are the good choice. I'm basically looking for a stick and throttle setup where the throttle or joystick has some sort of rudder control and it has a good solid feel as well as functionality.
I have looked at the saitec setup, but are there others to consider? thanks

Seawolf,

You might want to take a look at CH products.
I have had the Fighterstick, Pro throttle and rudders pedals for about a year now with no problems at all.
They have 40 buttons, switches etc that are very easy to program.

Yup, I have the exact same HOTAS and Mine was the shelf demo from a Best Buy (stick and throttle) so it was plenty abused when I got it half priced. I added the pedals the same year new. It is now over 5 years old and I have not had one problem to date and I do fly a lot. I can't tell any difference than when it was new. No spiking, no loss of spring tention or broken springs, and no broken buttons. If it dies today I will replace it in kind. Also it is very easy to program using speedkeys by CH.

I got the CH F-16 fighterstick, i didnt want the force feedback one, less buttons and they break often after a while.
My throttle is the CH pro throttle, like the fighterstick, you got TONS of buttons that you can make macros and such.
Rudder pedal, well you guessed, CH again =)

They sell their joystick cheaper than Thrustmaster, and they are REALLY good in my opinion.
I had to order mine cause most pc seller dont order it cause of the price.
Stick cost me 140 $ in canada, 1 year ago
Throttle cost me 110 $
pedal cost me 70 $

expensive, but if your an hardcore simer, you want those =)

I have got a CH products Pro throttle, Fighter stick, and pro-pedals, there great, but just a little tempramental, but I do have a programmable keyboard as well.
I had to upgrade my bios to change the keyboard timings or something, but they work really well now, and can be programmed easilly.

I live in the UK, and CH have only a few distributers here, and these cheeky scampsters charge almost twice the price people in the USA pay. My parents went on holiday, so I got them to bring em back for me. CH should take note, they would sell a lot more equipment if they asked these rip-off to lower their prices here.

oh my, if you have the same problem i had, hehe be ready to wait for 3 + weeks for an answer from CH tech.
My motherboard had problems with the joystick, i couldnt open the macro utility.
I had to open my fighterstick, and get rid of a small chipset on it.then it all worked fine with my pro throttle.
Now i really dont remember the exact way to do it, so send an email to tech at CH.

You can order CH Products from Buy.com if you want to order them online. Not sure whether the prices are good or not. Have not really compared.

I have a Saitek USB and now with the 1.3 driver addition the stick operates flawlessly so far. This stick has the best programability in terms of the number of presets that can be 3ntered and the layout is simple and very effictive if done correctly. The price at present is very attractive at $99.50. I would highly that you carefully consider this setup. There also hotass files available if you just ask on the forum - I have one if your are interested. Gray Wolf 97th Warhawks

Seawolf,

CH is good, but I use Suncom. It is cheaper and much easier to program. In fact, you can program it on the fly, while your gaming.

I've posted many times on this. Please do a search on Datajack or Suncom in this forum. You'll find a very detailed description on the entire HOTAS by me.

You can get them BOTH for $92.00.

The HOTAS is made up of:
F15E Talon stick and the SFS Throttle.

Please take a look at these before you
decide to buy.

Again, do a search and you'll find everything you need.

I have both the suncom analog setup and the Saitek USB setup. Like both very much. Using the Saitek more now with new SGE 1.3. Takes some time to get use to programming but well worth it.
