You know what guys. There is no wonder why the flight sim community is dying. I cant believe people who have not even tried the sim are complaining about graphics. Please just wait until you see the sim on your system or maybe on a friends system before you start bashing a sim that is barely out of the box yet. As for the Voodoo owners adjust your Gamma settings and thing will get brighter. As for the Screen shots from above look at the height of the Sun. Very low sun would not produce a bright Blue ocean. Take it from someone who makes his living on the ocean

Right on! I agree that with the sun so low in the sky the terrain would look that dark. If you notice on some of the carrier shots with those Hornets preparing for launch you can see an extended/narrow shadow from the aircraft due to the sunsetting! Nice touch.

Straight from the Horse's mouth:

Is it going to be arctic lighting condition? If so does the campaign always take place in the winter.

The sun angle is lower in the sky, but we still have day / night. The campaign is set in the spring of 2004. -CJ

If F/A-18 is like F-15 then there is a way to control the Gamma from within the game. In F-15 it's under the graphics setting. If you adjust it here then you won't screw up the gamma for your other programs by adjusting it in the display properties tab under Windows.

You dorks that are complaining about colorless graphics need to dump those shitty voodoo cards and get a riva product. 3dfx cards have always had crappy visual quality. get with the program.

Depending on the time of day and weather, the world can appear rather dark--as some of the screen shots demonstrate. Considering the latitude and time of year the conflict takes place, we feel this is quite accurate. We're not flying over the Caribbean for heaven's sake… However, at mid-day in clear skies there is clear distinction between land and sea and the world can appear quite bright.

I have no idea about the trailer. It was handed off to the marketing weenies a couple of weeks ago. It's out of the development team's hands I'm afraid.

I just spoke to the someone at EA customer service. He said the game will be shipped from their warehouse on the 3rd. I will arrive in stores sometime after the 7th.

According to him, if you order through customer service, they will make sure your copy is shipped on time. To order through customer service, call 1-800-245-4525 and press 2.

Good Luck!

Hi Datajack,

I ordered mine yesterday. The rep told me they started shipping on the 23rd of Dec. I"d already heard about the Jan. 3rd ship date. So I'm expecting it next Wednesday or Thursday...although he said it'd be this Thursday. To be honest the phone reps don't always know when something has shipped. So I'm hoping sometime next week I'll have F18.

I need to know if the sims at release features this option for Navigation...Thanks

Hey guys

I see quite a bit of post from Singapore flight-sim fan here. Do any of you know of a interest group here that I can affiliate with, or if not, would be interested to form one, pls let me know. I like to start collecting your contact and perhaps we can start having a more active hobby-community here than just flight alone. It's always hard to come across people interested in flight-sim. So why not we start to do something more interesting like flying on-line ?

Pls e-mail me your contacts to :

kwaek@singnet.com.sg

hope to hear from you soon.

Just got your question (I think we are in different time zone). After I upgraded my Voodoo 3 driver yesterday, I have a problem. Now I can see through the two Multipurpose Display Indicators (it becomes transparent)and all the displays there disappear. Therfore I am now really can't do much with my game. Already feedback to EA,Singapore about the above problem possibly due to Voodoo 3 new driver.

try going to http://www.3dwars.com/3dXtreme/

he has so called "hacked drivers" for
VooDoo 3 2000/3000 cards. go up there and read the articles before trying them. make sure you're getting the right drivers for your card. or go back to an older driver,
(before the 1.03.04 version).

the same thing happens in Jane's USAF in the
3D cockpit. using the "hacked" drivers cleared that up.

nehock--

3Dfx's newest V3 drivers have a problem with F/A-18 and several other games. 3Dfx has been informed of the problem and it will be addressed in their next driver.
