From what I have gathered they earliest possible way to get the game in the US is to order it from the EA store withover night shipping which only brings the game to 58 bucks. They will start shipping the product on the 3rd from what I understand and the stores are now saying they will have it on the 7th. I am going to wait till the morning of the third to verify nothing has changed before I order. (I hate everyone who lives in Singapore)

Merry Christmas

thanks for the info, hope they get it out as soon as possible. the sooner it comes, the more it feels that it was a delayed X-mas present lol.

Merry Christmas

Why the hell would Singapore get F/A-18 before the US??? This makes absolutely no sense at all.

They got it first cause they have a manufacturing plant out there. Its generally cheaper to have stuff produced out of country and shipped here so they shipped their stuff localy first I guess. I still hate em though.

Ahhh its burocracy. It happens. Negitave comments? The only thing I heard so far is one guy saying its too dark. I looked at the screen shots and it looked like the sunset shots the ground was dark but there were a few where the land looked very green. Well we will just have to see, dont judge till you play.

I agree! It is very frustrating knowing that it's sitting in the warehouse, especially after waiting a year for it! It is even more frustrating knowing that the guys in Singapore are playing this thing right now as we continue to post here day and night salivating for more info and shots. I don't understand the complaints about the graphics as I think they are incredible! The explosion shots look sharp, as does the detail in the Hornet. It's a beautiful bird and it is the main focus of the sim so I'm not at all disappointed that the support aircraft are not as detailed. The environment colors look better to me than any other sim out there. With every sim there will always be ones that are unhappy and that goes with the territory because we all have are favorites. Which in this case Jane's F/A-18 is mine! The sky colors are breathtaking! And from what I've been hearing, it is really hard to land on the carrier which to me is great news because that is what this sim is really about.....Getting back aboard alive! That in itself sounds like an extreme amount of fun. Oh....and the dynamic lighting isn't too shabby either! I can't wait until I get my hands on this. Personally, I think Jane's has nailed it this time!!!

Cruise missle away,
Snowman

Hey guys....sadly, i just experienced my 1st 2 CTDs yesterday :-(

It happened sometime after I clicked on Fly, but then again, I had EVERY graphic detail maxed out so that could be the cause. Happened twice, once on startup, once when I clicked Fly, other times, it got stuck @ the intro screen and I had to CTRL+ALT+DEL, and restart the sim. My hardware specs are as follows:

1) PII 400mhz
2) 128mb PC100 SDRAM
3) Asus P2BF mobo
4) 8.4gb Quantum HD, 5400rpm (full install)
5) Monster Fusion AGP 16mb
6) Monster MX300 soundcard
7) Suncom HOTAS

I strongly believe it's my maxing out of the graphics that's causing the CTD's and I had some freezes in external(F7) view too, when the explosions happened, usually. Hopefully, it's just my setup, but will be getting a 2nd 13gb 7200rpm HD today, so let's see by then how things go when I uninstall & reinstall into the 2nd HD. BTW, swap file size is 256mb min and max, & OS is Win98 1st edition

Skip, my 1st impressions were, hmmmm, F-15 WITHOUT melting mountains, much better lighting effects etc etc. Then came the FCS, which to me, felt wonderful, much like the C/D modelled in GSC's HK. The nose lifts off at 145knots on land based takeoffs. I can safely say, AI here will give u a run for your money, much deadlier than in F-15, though not ridiculously impossible. I tried a simple SINGLE MISSION, in which I had to stop a column of tanks. There were air defense units which put up a decent fight, and the tracers can actually be seen arcing TOWARDS u, much like a tracking shot!!! Scary, I actually had to REALLY weave above & below the arc line, much like how Andy Bush describe in SimHQ. Also, the scripted missions aren't exactly going by a fixed script. Certain elements change, like type of air defense(AAA/SAM), time of day etc. Although it still cannot beat a dynamic campaign, I think this is a good sim for multiplayer. U see, under single missions, they make some missions which are best suited for multiplayer, like an Ironhand mission etc

Personally, I'd say this is more of an improvement over F-15 in some ways(graphics, mission types, interface) but oh boy, what an improvement!!! It's worth the money spent, well worth it. And in any case, I still got F-15 on my HD since that was one of the first sims I came across which converted me to the darkside(Macs to PCs). Hheehehe.

FCS is very good, with no sudden surges in roll rates etc. I didn't really have to tweak my controls much, only the deadzone, which I set from 15 to 10. I'd say this sim has been worth the wait, really.

Okay, I've got some screenshots, now, how do I post 'em on this board? I'll probably reduce them in size to save on bandwidth, and post 'em at best 2 at a time. I play my sim at 800 X 600, 16bit color

How about avionics and comms. One of the things I am looking forward to most is the cockpit and how the avionics work. From the previews they sound great. Big improvement from F-15? Not that F-15 was bad.

SGAV8R...Please post your shots!! I'm not the guy to tell you how. Nevertheless, I believe there is an article/thread which contains that: "screenshot requests" I think.

Thanks!!

dfritch, will do that now, hang on..let's see....
Hope it works.

Skip, comms seem a great improvement over JF-15 from what i know. Will have to try it in greater detail tomorrow night as I am totally drained today :-(

Display-wise, I am running a Monster Fusion card, which supports both D3D & Glide, but under options, I think it's only Primary Display Driver that's available, so I believe it's a D3D API. Also, read somewhere it's D3D only, which bodes well for TNT2 Ultra & GeForce owners. Looks like it's time to up my card to a 32mb GeForce, most probably the Elsa Erazor
