I have downloaded maps for the Medditeranean and Pacific sets but cannot get them to run in the respective campaigns. I've tried them in skins and terrain folders and set ECA to show the right places to no avail. I can only get them to work in the main EAW folder but have to switch manually, Can anyone help?

THX,
(Apologies if I missed an earlier thread!)

Sorry for not having an answer for this question, but I am curious about these maps... They go in Stab? Is this what shows up in the briefings? Or the Alt-M map? Is it representative of the actual terrain one flies over? Whose maps are the best? I know I can find them at Cords, right?

Silkmaker,

Are you Setting the maps .PIC extensions in Stab? You need to run Stab. Then choose configure, EAW Stab, and Click the little box for Advance Mode. When you do this you can then see where the .pic extension is located, usually in the Terrain Box.
Then make sure you put the particular maps
file in the terrain Folder of the proper terrain location. Pacific file in Pacific Terrain folder, etc. Also make sure none of you Map files are set at read-only! Hope this helps.

Donster,
Thanks that makes sense now, I'll give it a try.

Anton8,
The maps show up in briefings and in-flight (Alt-M) and add a little extra realism to the Pac/Med campaigns. I got mine from E's site from one of Cords links.

I downloaded all the maps from -E's website and got all the maps to change as they should but can't get the names of the locations to change.

There appears to be only one file downloaded, "europe1.pic" for all 3 maps and I added that to the Stab2.1 configure panel in advanced in terrain and then in skins to see if that would help (and putting the file into that skin folder too).

Am I missing a step here which is needed to get the names to change?

To change the place names you will need Charles Gunst ECAPanel 3.1, that can be found on sites like the Hanger and others. Once you install it to your EAW directory open it and click on File, Place Names and select which one you want, that will change the briefings and Flt Map to Cities of that region when you run the game. To install the maps go back on this thread to Donsters' reply, that worked for me.

Good Luck

Durn'ed if that doesn't work. Seems like I should have been able to figure that one out for myself.

Is this what old age is going to be like?

Thanks for the assist.

With Stab 2.1 you can also put them in Common files and cofigure them that way. I know it's not much, but it does save space by copying them into just one location, if you use more than one season.
