Hello
Pretzelworks has just posted the file to add vertical clouds to the EAW horizon.

It`s been tested with TNT and 3dfx...
No black spots (If you see any with this file those will be bandits !! ) . I`ll try to fix my other cloud file.

The London Fog package should be ready in a week. Has many levels of fog.

Get your file here. http://members.xoom.com/Pretzelworks/

Cheers !
Pretzel

Nice - I just gave it a try - I have a few black spots on the edges of the clouds (I have a Viper 550 TNT with the latest Detonator drivers). Is there any wasy of fading the bottom of the cloud layer into the fog colour? IMHO, the line where the clouds end is a bit too distinct. Great stuff tho' - makes straight EAW terrain feel like summer, and it's also a good aid to situational awareness.

Apoligies if this is a dumb question, but can the new horizon and the 'fluffy clouds' be used at the same time in the sim ?

Both look GREAT from the screenshots (although it's a bit hard to tell from the small pics on the site!)

Thank you!

clouds look great! I assume the zip files have a readme text that tells us how to install. Can they be configured with Stab? ie. put the grey sky in the winter folder, etc.

Great job! this sim just gets better!

HEY PRETZEL?

Are you sure youre flying EAW? That dont look like no EAW but a whole new SIM! HAHAHA

All these addons/improvements have made EAW a totally different sim all together.

GREAT JOB GUYS!

Pretzel - how do you make the background image (i.e. what format, size, etc.)? Does it go through picpac too? I'd really like to do some clouds too.

I also got a TNT1 and really had to look hard to see those small black dots. But they are there if you really look hard. First, I thought "nah" just bugs on my windscreen. HEHE. I see the clouds are a single *.ter file and I just dropped it into the EAW folder; but, I imagine that it'll need to go into each estab terrain subfolder. Otherwise it'll get deleted when I change terrains. Am I correct on this?

Fabulous clouds, Pretzel! A hearty S!

Bigshot:

[...clouds are a single *.ter file...just dropped it into the EAW folder...imagine that it'll need to go into each estab terrain subfolder. Otherwise it'll get deleted when I change terrains. Am I correct on this?]

You can prevent it from being deleted in the EAW directory when the terrain changes simply by making the file "Read-only". (Go to the clouds file, right click, left click on Properties, find "Attributes", and place a check mark in the Read-only box)

This is also a simple way to keep sharpened instruments in the EAW directory without having to copy all of them to each EAW Stab Skins folder (if you have Stab configured to change skins when the terrain changes).

Hello

I just posted Horizon clouds ver2. I blended the base of the clouds and added some fluffy-ness to the gray color too.

Plz give me some feedback , TNT owners let me know if you see any spots.

Nice to see guys are getting the clouds to work with STAB 1.3.

If you would like to make you own sky/horizon
or cloud texture. 1st you'll need the pic-pac utility program. The PCX files need to be 128x128 pixels, also You'll have to blend the gray haze in your horizon pcx or you will see a square boxed eaw horizon.

Cloud files are:
BNcloud0.ter
BNcloud1.ter (overcast sky you see in view objects menu.)
BNcloud2.ter

Sky/Horizon are:
BNhorizn.ter
BNSkyblu.ter

When working with sky/clouds, the 128x128 pcx file gets stretched across most of the sky, so its had to get allot of detail.

E-mail me and ill send you my three .PCX templates to help you get started.

Terrific job, Pretzel!

However, on my Matrox G400 Max w/ latest drivers, I get small black dots on the top of the clouds in the forward view at 1600 x 1200. Is there anyway to fix this. These clouds really make EAW much better.

Cheers

S! to all...I was just wondering if Im the only one that always has problems trying to D/L anything off www.members.xoom,or even trying to get a complete page to load without error messages. If I constantly refresh it sometimes works OK but it seems to be the only site I have problems with. Anybody else?

Lawyer,

A question. I have a Matrox G400 16MB and with the latest drivers 5.52.015, I am getting flickering messages in the virtual cockpit (1280x1?). I can only drive my monitor at 70Mhz and Matrox support are saying this is the problem. However, it did NOT happen with the 5.41 drivers. How is yours going?

Matt.

Pretzel you're a bloody marvel. Thankyou very much!!Just flew a dawn escort mission in the P51...what a sight at 25000ft, contrails, great cloudbanks!!! with the sun just peeping up. Even managed to shoot up a line of half-tracks. It was still pretty dark, only their tracer gave them away. Even more amazing, I only have a 4mb video on-board with 32mg RAM, although the sun itself is still green:eek Who looks at the sun anyway.

thanks again Pretzel.

MattM,

I still have the 5.41 drivers because the newer version seems only to have added support for Open GL that the shooter fans want. However, I have had since day one the problem of a periodic flash view of the virtual cockpit when flying without it, which is very annoying. I never had that problem with my Viper 550 TNT, but I prefer the Matrox Millennium for the picture quality.

For any Matrox or video problems, I highly recommend the Matrox Users site below. I got a lot of help there on Matrox and other hardware problems (including overclocking) from the very knowledgeable users on that forum. Definitely a must since Matrox unfortunately does NOT support their excellent hardware. The people who run the site seem like jerks, but the users are a dedicated bunch who know their stuff since Matrox is used for so many professional, video editing, and business applications. Come to think of it, they may have some good thoughts on the EAW code-breaking stuff even though most of them don't appear to play it.
http://www.matroxusers.com/

Cheers and thanks again for your Stab program which I use as the starting point for all things EAW. A truly fine product.

Jake

S! Sir...I am running a geforce card and the horizon clouds look fantastic...However, the fluffy clouds (I hope I am not mistaken and mixing the names up, the fluffy clouds are the "cloud layer" you sometimes fly over, correct?) have large "black holes" in them.
My geforce card also has problems with the briefing screens so maybe it is a "geforce only" issue. Anyway, thanks for your work.

Many thanks Herr Pretzel.Looking at above Me109,its just like being there.Now..I do have Stab 1.3(and I am very grateful for it)..do I add clouds to each terrain folder(S,S,A,W) as I desire,or leave it in EAW with read only checked? Same with Winter grey?? For your next project:tall thunder storm masses, with shear from jet stream, auch Donner und Blitzen!!! Must have heavy wind effects on AC, as we fly thru, or may choose to fly around. That should keep you busy for a few days!! Thank you,John Wilson

Hello

Wizkid, you sure you got that file on my web site ?

I was working with Night palette in EAW but never up-loaded any file.

Also TNT user dont use the Fluffy top cloud layer because of black spots. I think I know which color is causing this problem and will fix later.

Sorry I dont know how to exactly use the clouds and sky in STAB but isnt there something in the readme file about adding other files ?

Cheers Pretzel

Regarding using stab1.3 with the clouds; I've been unzipping the files into the terrain folders they are appropriate for, eg. horizon clouds into Channel Front/Summer, grey skies into Channel Front/Winter. Everything working fine.
