Gentleman, I have just bought a GeForce 256
and there is one thing I have to say.
man that card is fast.

I have set all the settings to max.
and the framerate is just GREAT.
800x600 that is, have not tried other resolutions yet.

GunFighter 6 out.

what CPU do you have? ram amount?

i've heard that the GeForce performs better, significantly so, as the processing power increases, and that it is less noticeable with more midrange cpu's

thanks for answer!

I haven't tried my Geforce yet with falcon 4 as I'm not reinstalling it till 1.08 is out. But I can say that I now play USAF at 1600x1200 instead of 1024x768 with NO slow down at all on the same exact system with the exception of the geforce. Plus i was able to crank 3d clouds up a few notches while everything else remains maxxed. This card is the total $hit. If you have the bucks go get one.

Long live the new king

alright I have the FeForce one day longer now and it still rocks.

my system is as follows. I have a PII 400 128MB Dimm with now a GeForce 256 32mb 3D card.

and the anwser is yes i have set everthng to max, the higher the resolution you run with the card the better it functions. yeah I know thats hard to believe. but the card sends nothing to the real pentium proccesor it takes care of it self. that means the pentium processor gets to do lesser things and so the entire system runs smoother.

for more details on the G-force check the Creative home page.

beside the point for some people who really want to know the abbilities of the card.
I run Q3 arena on 1024 and get a framerate of 60

The -g# option increases the range of graphics options, so the max is effectively # times higher.

Isn't there a -hires option as well, that increases the available resolutions?

The -g3 -g4 etc increases the number to which U can move your graphic settings etc to the right (max) from default installed setting. The -hires switch is required to use higher than 800x600 resolution ? Its in the readme file.

Questions: I currently have a DEll PII 300mhz, 128ram, a Voodoo2 w/8meg and Falcon 4. I know, I know, it's aging. My question is this: Will my system, replacing the Voodoo2 with the GFORCE 256, perform better with Falcon4? And will the GFORCE buy me a little more time (maybe a year) with my DELL PII 300mhz?

Thanks

Hell yeah... but it will only buy you a month...What `s killin` this game is processors and not graphix in 90% of the hardware out there. Loook at some of the threads: Plll 500,GE Force,128 megs + and these guys are still under 30 frames in campaign(under 20 above the FLOT)...All this said these mothas have it cranked up GFX wise but still (and I didn`t come up with this on my own) their card is limited to how fast their CPUs can manage the campaign. A Ge Force will help but if I were you I`d go with a CPU upgrade.
Hey ,this is just what I filtered from all of the above so sue me if I`m wrong..Just for reference: I DON`T get any additional frames from goin` back to 8x6 from 10x7 in campaign so I assume that my ATI is not the culprit...Plus for additional reference:I`m celebratin` 08! Need I say more?
Kinda liquidated...

Yeah striker, for less $ than a geforce you could have a pre tested celeron at 550 and a motherboard that would take a PIII upgrade.

GunFighter's remarks about the geforce doing the work of the cpu would apply to software written for hardware T@L, which his open gl quake3 does in a limited way. It ain't gonna help F4 out a bit.
