Hi to all those new and old to this forum.

Today was a good day. I have had EECH for about 6 weeks now, and today I finally managed to grab my first online game with no less than Spawnbob himself.

Although Im an ok pilot, Im a bit of a novice at computing in general. This morning I decided enough was enough... I met up with Ozias on ICQ, and he helped me install the latest patch [I didnt know you had to actually copy it onto the original COHOKUM.EXE]. Then I downloaded Roger Wilco MK1c [I had 1b], although I wanted battlecom [but shadowfactors website seemed to be down].

Anyway, I digress. I'm a keen follower of Spawnbobs antics, so had a chat with him on ICQ and he invited me for a co-operative game in the afternoon. After some inital probs [Spawnbob had been mucking around with his EECH file setups once too often], we got in, and Spawnbob showed me round.

All I want to say is that it was genuinely great to play EECH online. Talking to each other in real time while you do it is a particular bonus.

If you havent already, do try to get involved.

Flying in the mountains with a guy like Spawnbob was tremendous. I wont go into detail but we had some fun. Spawnbob had a bit of bad luck at times though. As we rounded a hill, we came upon a batallion of tanks in the road up ahead. Spawnbob took cover [no doubt to take some pictures!!! hehe] - after spectacularly dispatching a coupla baddies I should add - while I charged in like a fool. I flew right over them at about 50 feet, turned and hovered for some kills. Suddenly a terrible cry came out of my mike... Spawnbob got blitzed by a SAM while I was fine.

We then went on a coupla other sorties, great fun, especially watching Spawnbob try his kamikaze technique off the side of a cliff, while my Lasagne was burning up in the oven... no really!

Well, all that remains for me to say, is great game, great multiplayer experience, and thanks to Spawnbob... a true believer.

I just got EECH a couple days ago...

Are you saying the USA release needs a patch already?

The US release is patched to the 1.41c standard. There are some recent beta patches on the razorworks web site, under the title 'X' patches, which upgrade the helicopter AI and the range of the Hokum radar, increasing it to 10km.

The latest one is 1.45x.

The download is pretty small, less than 2Mbytes, because you are only downloading a replacement cohokum.exe file, which replaces the one installed in your comanche hokum directory.

since it's release several months ago EECH has recieved fantastic support from Razorworks. They have released 2 major patches which on the whole fixed minor things and added new things.

At the moment they doing X patches which are small exe replacements' These tend to tweak things and add extra settings. There have been about 3 /4 x patches so far.

The US version i think is 1.4.1c which is the lastest offical patch , the latest X patch is 1.4.5x which you just copy over the 1.4.1c installtion.

On a sidenote nothing to do with this question or the posters.

When i have a go at warez copiers of EECH it's beacause Razorworks are indeed a very small team ( about 9 people ) , they need support from us and their publishers to get sims out on the shelf.
Things like their Website and patches are all done in their free time.

Many developers promise things like Intergration and No Bugs, well EECH is as close as we have got. The thing is it has to be made worth there while.
It would be far easier for RW to do a Quake clone so this isnt like ripping off Microsoft where u think your Robin Hood every sale lost has an impact.

I dont work or are paid by RW in any way , but it's the teams like this and other small enterprises that keep simming alive ( Wayward, Steelbeasts, Combat Mission as well ) they have been in the game from DI days of Apache and Hind and they had a passion for Helicopters, and they would love to make more based on this topic. So give the small teams a chance.

Sometimes i sound preachy which i shall try to stop but we all here on these boards for a good reason and credit to 99.9% of the posters here, who recgonise and support the genre.

SpawnBob,

Youre too darn tactful.

Let me say it bluntly....

Downloading a game from Warez or other similar sites is stealing and robbing the developer's from thier due reward for thier labors. Its taking away the income from the families and thier children. If you use the product, pay for it. Its that simple.

Rationalizing using stolen software as just a trial run helps your concience, you are kidding yourself. We are losing flight sim developers by the droves because the profit margins are so small to start with.

As we get crappyier dumbed down sims that are reaching for a larger crowd to cover costs, not paying for a product that we are getting value from is the same as contributing to the demise of our hobby.

I work for a software company myself, so I know what it is like to lose revenue, stock value and market share because of pirating.

AAAAAGGGHHH.That's a full 26 hours to wait!! what am I going to do till then? I know, I'll do the garden, play with my daughter, take the dog for a walk, have a beer or 3, learn a Dire Straits guitar solo, feed the rabbit (to the dog? nooo).Play some snooker......(voice fades slowly away as I tremblingly edge away into the distance muttering to myself).....

Oh yes, I will be paying full price, in cash. I totally agree with what's been said.
