I screwed up big time guys, and I want to apologize to the admin staff for my earlier post. I just wasn't thinking when I posted that info about the CD Crack. Since I don't know who actually has purchased the game, I will be removing it from our squads site. When I posted the first time, I really didn't give it a single thought about who has actually purchased the game. I just assumed after reading a number of posts here at the Combatsim forum about guys seeking the crack, that most of the guys posting
in there already had the game, and why would they be asking for it if they
didn't have it. That and now with EAW also being discontinued, a lot of guys who have legitimatley purchased the game are so
concerned about something happening to their one and only CD, and then not being able to replace the game.
I really was just trying to be helpful, but I guess I was a little naive.

I realize now that I made a major blunder. I erased my earlier post, and I am removing the file from my website. I hope those of you that already downloaded the file will be honorable with it, and not make the same mistake that I just did.

Greywolf,

Can you please e-mail the crack.
I own the game since it came out in 1998.

Thank you very very much,

I got it last night. HEHEHE. I bought three EAW CDs from Software, Etc. One I gave away. I think the qualifies me to keep the crack, don't you? Anyway, I was gonna ask how to go about installing it. Guess I got to unzip it to a folder so I can read the readme. I don't see what the big deal is anyway. MPS released Falcon4 which doesn't need the CD to run with a full install. Why not EAW? I'll probably just hang onto the file in case I reck the two CDs I got in my game case. That's unlikely since they're handled like Nitro whenever removed from the CD drive.

S! all,

I also have a legal copy of EAW (what other way of doing my bit to help the sim genre survival?), but I'd like to save myself the hassle of swapping CDs into the tray.

Could anyone (Bigshot?) send me the file, please?

E-mail: flipper@davidml.globalnet.co.uk

Thanks!

Yes I know using a crack to play EAW without owning the game is wrong. But why can't we have a link to this file here?

This is a flightsim site not crackers central. Nobody wil be looking here for the latest cracks. The original EAW CD can be copied without a problem by any standard CD Writer which is much more conveniant than copying the whole CD to Hard disk.

The thing is I could use this crack with my legal copy of EAW to install the game on my laptop at work and have some fun during my lunchbreak (and on fridays when management doesn't show up or goes home early)

Go to www.farstone.com and buy their utility that lets you create a virtual CD drive on your hard-disk. Then load EAW to that virtual drive and get 200x (+ or -) speed!

Then put your CD away for safe keeping.

This no cd "thing" works a treat, online and off line.No probs what so ever

Access times are faster due to the fact that it does not have to utililize the slower cd drive.

You will need a FULL install of the sim for it to work.
---------------------------------------------
I reckon MPS management`s strategy was :
We will let people use no cd with Falcon4
because it will only appeal to a small minority(Less to lose)....
We will not allow it in EAW because it will appeal to a majority(more to lose).....

What the hell planet are you management boys on?
You have an option to make the game faster(access times),and to do away with the hasle of inserting the disk each time to play ,not to mention the damage that eventually happens to it(scracthes etc).

So if any of you suckers are reading this thread:

1)make it official
2)Release the game code to some of the talent on this forum so that they can improvethe sim.

MPS do the wright thing.Please

Glad to see the CD Crack is working for everybody. Donster thanks for the comments about NJG's site, been working on that for awhile now. I dont know why when MPS produced EAW they made the CD mandatory, and in Falcon 4 they didn't do that. But since EAW manufacturing is now FUBAR, maybe having the crack released publically is the way to go. However, having it on a site such as combatsim.com would be more appropriate, IMHO. I don't know if any of the admin guys picked up the download when it was made available for a short time, but if they did they may want to consider it.

It works first time but when I go back to EAW again it asks for the disc.

Help me please.

Bilko,

Couple questions,

1.) Did you have a full install before applying the crack, its needed and will not work correctly without it. If you don't remember I would suggest un-installing and then re-installing EAW.

2.) Did you follow the directions in the readme exactly? Before applying the crack, you need to run the plain jane EAW 1.2 (no addons) first to set everything up correctly. Afterwards you apply the patch. Did you do this?

3.) What version of EAW are you running, the US or a European version. I only tested the crack out with the US version so I am unaware of how it will work with any others.

Bilco,

Sorry 1 more question,

Did you make the change to your eaw.ini file?

You needed to do the following:

Add/replace the following in your EAW.INI file...

[Miscellaneous]
Debug Flags=0
Debug Path=.\

I would suggest giving the crack to gamecopyworld.com, as they go out of their way to show that they're not a warez site, and so this may help!

The change in eaw.ini, thats what I need to do. Could someone give me instructions on how to do this?

I am rather depressed today, my phone bill arrived! I know I spend a bit of time on the Net, but good god.
I refuse to show my wife the bill!

Rodger,

Just go into your EAW folder, in there will be a notepad file labeled EAW, open it and
under miscellaneous make the changes to DEBUG Flag and DEBug Path.It tells you the change in the notepad of the crack.

Bilko,

Go to your Windows Explorer

Find your Main EAW Directory

The default should be under

C:/Program Files/Microprose Software/European Air War

Locate the file eaw.ini (it should look like a little note pad with a small gold seal on it, it does anyway in my version of Windows98)

Double Click on it and it should open up in as a notebook file.

Scroll Down till you find the header
[Miscellaneous]

Then make sure it reads exactly as whats listed below.

[Miscellaneous]
Debug Flags=0
Debug Path=.\

Then save the file and your done.

I don't have the crack (can't say I understand "crack") but I'm gonna ask Donster to send it to me. But now let me ask a question or two - from what is said here I will need to reinstall EAW fully, then do what yall say here about the crack, then if I'm successful (doubtful), can I reinstall stuff like ECA and ECA Panel and the terrains and terrain changer and stuff? Anyway, here is my e-mail address so maybe you can send it to me: bobcholmes@yahoo.com. Thank you.

Bob,

If you have allready installed EAW in full,
just apply the no cd crack(fix/cracking the code). If you have not installed eaw in full,I would imagine you could reinstall just the missing coponents from the disk(not sure on this though, maybe my collegues could confirm this?)

Ps I`ve sent you a Email

How does the crack install? Do you just unzip it directly into the eaw folder? Then check out the readme for the ini changes?

Also, I'm still confused by the above. I have a full install with 1.2 and all the other goodies. Do I need to reinstall eaw and 1.2 and then unzip the crack and then reinstall everything else? (eca, skins, etc.) Doesn't sound right?

Mainly interested in just how to install. Is it a simple winzip install directly to folder? Or it it self extracting? ???

Bigshot,

If you already have a complete install, you do not have to uninstall and reinstall. Plus you do not have to mess with removing any add-ons.I just unzipped the crack into a temp file, read the notepad instructions, copy the eaw.exe file in to the eaw folder,
and then you open your eaw.ini file, scroll down to [miscellaneous], then add/replace the following into your ini file:

Debug Flags=0
Debug Path=.\

Hope this helps.

Thanks Donster; I'll unzip to the unzip folder and then just drag and drop the exe file to the eaw folder? and change the ini file. Should work, right? First, I'll read the readme.

Also, I don't know how to email my crack file to anyone; so please don't ask? HEHE.

Yep! You will see that the exe file is a icon. Just drop it into your eaw folder! And make the ini change.
