Hi all

Sorry if this question was asked before, I'm new here...
I'm having problems installing ECA 1.2 and the Meatwater sound pack , both of them give me an error the second they start to copy the files to my EAW folder...(after the unzip)
I use EAW ver 1.2
P2-400 128RAM

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

I assume that it is ECA v1.4 that you are trying to install. That is the latest version. If not, I suggest that you download that from CombatSim.Com or ECA Online.

The installation of ECA v1.4 is fairly simple, as follows.

You should have a zip file, ECA14.ZIP, which is about 7.5 Mb in size. Simply unzip this file, add the files in this zip file to your EAW directory (the directory containing EAW.EXE, typically C:\PROGRAMS\MICROPROSE SOFTWARE\EUROPEAN AIR WAR).
To remove, just delete these files from that directory.

The 7 previously non-flyable aircraft will then be available to fly in campaigns. There is a TXT file in the zip file which explains all of this.

Thank you for your fast answers
I know I should post the exact error message , but unfortunately I'm at work right now and I don't remember it ...
It has something to do with extracting the files , from what I understand, it's a pretty common installation problem

Thanks again

Sounds like you have an older version of ECA, which came as an install EXE file. I recommend that you download and use the newer Enemy Coast Ahead v1.4. It is a much improved version, with many new features, but also comes in a simple zip file. I changed from an install EXE file precisely because a lot of people had this problem.
As to installation, the important part is when, in the install routine, you see:
<< +++install in EAW folder+++ >>
This is a critical point of the install routine. Type into that box the path of your EAW directory (probably C:\PROGRAMS\MICROPROSE SOFTWARE\EUROPEAN AIR WAR), or select by browsing, instead of "+++install in EAW folder+++".The files will then install to Enemy Coast Ahead to your EAW directory. If you do not do this it will give you the "not enough space on target drive" message, and not install.

There is no verification procedure. It either works (if all the files exist in your EAW directory) or not. If ECA works, it is installed O.K.
