I have the latest patch for EAW installed and I can't find the Extra Squads in my EAW.ini file. What is it called in the .ini? And where is it generally located in the file? Thanks for any help.

Lucky~ to run x-squads you will need to edit your EAW ini file and add a line to get it to work. Open the ini file and look for a section with the heading [EAW]. Below the last line in this section type in ExtraSquads=1 (or 2, 3 etc. depending on how full you wish the skies to be.) Be sure to add a space between this section and the one titled [Difficulty] below it. Save the file and enjoy.

You have to add the line manually. There is a section called [EAW] in the .ini file. Under that you add the following line:

ExtraSquads=3

You can use any number from 1 to 5, though the readme.txt says 2 or 3 is best.

You should then be good to go

Ja what they said. Also the EAW Control Panel version 1.6 also has a extra squads check box that allows you to set it from 1-5. It also has all of the graphics settings as a box, and joystick and internet control sliders. Saves all of that *shudder* typing. I love it because...well I'm lazy.

I got ExtraSquads=2 and I just set up an intercept with my group of 8 109Gs with 109Es in support against a moderate number of B17s with P51Bs in support. Had two waves of B17s come in with about 36 planes in each wave with about a dozen or more escorts with them at dawn at high altitude (20K) with the CFS terrain. What a beautiful battle it was. I called for reinforcements immediately and started my run on the bombers with aaa set on heavy. Everything was as smooth as silk. Got pasted shortly into the battle by B17s on my front and P51Bs on my tail so had to hit the silk. Then I hit F12 and sat back and watched the battle unfold. What a show it was with all the new skins and sounds with the subwoofer bass cranked up. Just couldn't get myself to Alt-J back into the fight. Just sat and watched for what must have been 15 minutes or more. An experience that's hard to describe unless your an avid EAW'er. This game is a year old and still seems brand new.

I think 2.0 is coming out shortly. You might want to wait for that. Charles Grunst had a post about it a week or so ago on this forum. Check it out.

Thanks, guys, 1.6 now installed and I agree Herr Schatten, it is now much easier to cook up lots more targets..actually this setting is dangerous...went to max, and as I was lining up my 3rd 109, got my tail feathers blown away, bought a lovely french farm, but enjoyed the rest of the fight via f12

S! Mein Herren. Sorry I forgot to post the link as I was on my way to get some frothy beverages and watch some very artistic and inspiring dancing by some lovely young ladies... But that mission is accomplished and I see that the link was posted, danke Herr DBond. Now where did I leave those anti-hangover pills...Ach Himmel.
