Just flying WBs off line with the new .75 update. Man, I still think the FMs, weapons, SA are the most challenging but also the most satisfying. Excellent guages & not too bad a sounds. This sim seems much better for spiral climbs with the 109s than any other. It seems the kites, when comparing to actual tests & specs., comes closer than most. IMO, if this sim had the career modes as EAW, it would be a real winner in WW2 air combat.
Just try the 17s or 25s if one is into bombers. Real nice.
FWIW,
Good Hunting!

Kraut:

I hear that there are some WB sites that have data comparing the flight characteristics data of the various planes. Can you suggest a site or two that I can try?

Thanks, Ronin

Hoof's performance pages: http://www.rdrop.com/users/hoofj/

Not quite up-to-date but lots of good info anyway.

I'm not sure if there's a more up to date page somewhere. But if there is, it can probably be found at www.warbirds.org .

Good luck with the search!

Thanks for the links guys! Found some of what I was looking for.

BTW - I've never flown Warbirds. It is only WWII right??

Thanks, Ronin

Ronin, ya gotta try it. It's a big DL with the cockpits & high resolution but, IMO, worth the experience. Articles I've read about FMs on certain kites are applicable with this sim. Even fuel consumption is modeled. This is one of the few, IMO, that requires a good pilot. The pilot makes the plane, not the other way around. I would say I'm less than average with this one & maybe average with the rest. My scores attest to that.
A great selection of planes is also available but only WW2 stuff. Fighters, bombers, & transports. In training, one can ride in the cockpit whilst the trainer flys the plane. A bit of lag but still educational. Too expensive for me online but I sure do miss it.
FWIW,
Good Hunting!
PS. Ya gotta try a fully loaded 17 or 25 & "claw" your way to alt. without overheating the engines. Full fuel & bombs. Unfriggen believable!

I gotta agree with Kraut. If Warbirds had a detailed offline scenario it would be the best of all WWII flight sims. You think you can fly WWII sims? Climb in one of these birds and take off. If you manage to get off the ground without breaking something, just fly a circuit and then try to put one down in one piece. There's a lot more going on with this one than other WWII sims!

Also know that Warbirds supports FREE H2H.
There are also a couple very well done dueling ladder sites available to test your ACM vs pilots beginner to experten!Carefull tho-Warbirds can be VERY addictive and you WILL likely end up with 1 of the account choices allowing you to play online with pilots of all skill levels from around the world.Again ,the download is FREE-In my opinion still the best 'feel' of flight available-cya up!
