I created an AI only mission, an american attack on Kerch airbase, with a couple of defending flanker flights.

I went off and left the mission running, when I came back the only aircraft in the air after about half an hour was the one in the pic above. It wasn't just staionary when I took the picture, I watched it for 5 minutes, speed = 0, alt = 40440 metres, spinning end over end, with no pilot. I assume it was an AI aircraft that had been hit and the pilot ejected.

That was a picture from an attempt from the russians to use jets as means to get into space again and blow up the space shuttle.

LOL Same thing happened to me last week. I engaged a Mig-29 in "Still of the night". When the missle hit him he was pitched up...and he just kept going up. His speed slowly decreased until the altimiter maxed out at 99999, there was a black untextured surface above him and a tiny Crimea below.

Just a bug... I did something similar in Flight Sim 98 once... Only in a learjet!

"Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast. And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them."

That's a logical consequence of current AI FM. Will be fixed in 2.03 (I hope).
