A scaled down image of a 1600x1200 full screen JSF screenshot with no 3dfx enhancements what so ever!

Does JSF have the ability to make and trade missions, like we see in most Janes products?

That's some of the nicest terrain I've ever seen, especially the colors. Certainly better than F4 (obviously tiling, and kind of an ugly color) or F2 (washed-out, pastel look).

Major Tom, welcome to the 1600X1200 club, "the-simmers-that-s-hit-can-sims-with-bad-res-unless-it-gets-close"

Great screen shot, that's what I call quality, makes you feel like you are there.

Good job chief, I have JSF myself and you guessed it, I run it at 1600X1200...Thank you scsi, GE Force 2 and PIII 800.

Cheers.

F18, what the hell was that all about?

I've absolutaly got to take more of these splendid JSF screenshots. I would have posted the full 1600x1200 shot, but in order to present it in its full glory I would have had to severely distort it in order to get the picture into postable format.

IE not more than 2 meg

But if there is one thing JSF did right, the one thing it did better than anyone else, it has to be color. The real colors make the difference.

Strange how so many games get the colors screwed up. Maybe the programmers are squinting at their monitors so much, they don't look out the window.

The stormy weather in the Kola Peninsula area is just down right awsome. I'll try and get some more screenshots posted.

JSF has yet to be dethroned in the graphics department. No other sim can compare.

Major Tom,

I used to be a JSF freak and since I upgraded my box to contain V3 3000, the intro movie screwed up. And because GeForce2 GTS uses D3D rather than Glide, I can only run it under software mode.

Could you please tell me if you encounter the same problems ?

Appreciate your reply.

Best regards

I passed by my local Babbages and saw JSF for US $10!! Is it worth it? I have an Athlon 700Mhz, 256 PC-133 RAM and a Diamond TNT2 32Meg (vanilla)...will it look nice in Software mode since TNT2 runs D3D only? ...or is there a patch for it to run also on D3D? You input is appreciated.

As I said: un.fn. believable:
If it was mah money instead of buyin F4 code or anything I`d give these guys the money and go from there - in developng the SIM...
Caps intended: Yeah I`m a hardcore freak: but graphics come first!!!

You NEED to suspend that disbelief don`t ya?

And to think that shite ran great on the hardware available 4 years ago without 3Dfx or Nvidia makes me beat mah cat unconscious...(OK I don`t have a cat, I`m a dog dude)
Kinda like how the *** did we end up with the government we have...

Goddamn sheep...

How does it happen?
No REALLY!!!

I can`t even wait to see this engine in motion...it`s already soo descriptive..

Sorry for the out of place rant...just shite that makes me blow...

Will JSF run on my computer? I have a Pentium III 500mhz, 64RAM, and a 3DProphet 32Mb DDR video card.

If so then where can I get it, is it like a normal compusa type thing?

Whats the frame rate like?

Yea it'll run! Hehe...very well too! The came out during the time when Pentium 133s were considered slow, but not behind the times. Pentium 200 ruled the PC world, so your PIII-500 should do just fine

Anyone know where I can get it? I'm not to familiar with how to get these sims.

I downloaded the demo on to the desktop and double clicked on the icon, and it asks what program do I want to open it with. What should I use? Thanks

Mark,
I've just tried JSF demo. After you clicked on an icon, it asked you, if you want to install DirectX, or 3dfx drivers. If you already have some newer games installed, then you should have your DirectX. If you have 3dfx card, then check the box, and install the 3dfx drivers. If you don't have 3dfx card, just continue. If it exits to desktop, just click the game's icon again(or go through startup menu) It should work. In software mode(my case) it started at 320X200, so don't exit the program right away. For more info ask other guys, since I don't want to play it. For the reason, that I hate hi-tech planes, not because I don't like the game.

I dont like high tech planes either, but hey, if the terrain looks like that!

When I double click on the icon I get an "open with" window saying "choose the program you want to use to open the file, if the program is not on the list click other". It lists about 30 different things.

The icon itself looks like a small sheet of paper with the top right corner folded, and it has the microsoft flag in the middle. I wasnt expecting the icon to look like that, is that right?
I play the demo offline right? I clicked close when it finnished downloading, then I left the web and then clicked on the jsf icon.

I use flanker and flight unlimited with a 3Dprophet32mb vid card so must I have direct x. ( PIII500mhz, 64 ram,windows 98, 10gig hard drive)

Dont know about you, but judging from my past experiances with computer flight sims, it doesnt surprise me that this demo is not working!

Anyway mostly I just want to find out where I can buy it.

Sorry Mark. You got me there. I didn't see any of the stuff you've mentioned.(except, of course, Microsoft that captured the flag) Wait, until people will wake up. Someone, should help you.
Got to go to sleep. I am starting to get here multiple monitors,...on Win95.

I've had JSF since...1997!!!!!!

It was stunning even back then at 640x480 on a PII 300 w/32mb of RAM in software mode...

They are making a game where you play as a soldier, using the JSF engine. Dunno, but so far that game looks too cool...

Because the game does awesome special effects even in software, I loved it (because I had no 3dfx card).
