While playing my sims on my regular system, I always thought that it would be nice to have a sort of an "aviation" sound in the background.

Well, I broke out the old laptop and after trying different titles, I settled on the sounds from the Wings, "Korea to Vietnam" series, this the CD Rom version of the popular TV series.

Anyway, you can choose a plane, in this case, the F4 Phantom and you get the sounds from it and the airbase around it, very, very cool. The sounds run continuously and really give you the impression of "being there", low rumbles, whistling noises, and all that, reverberated against stormy South East Asian weather, the effect is stunning especialy for "outside" view users like myself.

You'll have to hook some little speakers to your laptop (or other PC) and add maximum bass, all the while keeping the volume down, to keep that distant "rumble" realistic, the results with Jet sims such as F4, F2, USAF and even FUIII (don't you think that that thrust reverser sound is the best!). It works with all jet sims, try it.

I swear, after a while, you can smell the kerosene around the airbase, it is that good.

Anyway, give it a shot. Those CD's are from the "Wings" series that once was so popular the Discovery channel.

M, they are regular CD roms, pictures and all included, The sounds are the real sounds captured from operations and recordings from the planes themselves, stunning stuff.

I am sure that if you go to your local sim store, you'll be able to purchase 'em.

Like I said, it's off the "Wings" series.

Enjoy!

Shurem, we have this 'Specialty store" on North Broad,in New Orleans, that specializes only in simming and Model Kits.

You'll find the latest model kits (plastic, woood, and they'll build one to your specs!), they have a warehouse full, any model, scale, you can think of! and on top of it, they sell flight sims, any type, GA, military etc...

The cool thing about this store is that the owner is an ex fighter pilot (pretty much like Andy Bush, except that he is older, Korea, and his son took over the chores, running the store), those guys have everything you can think of related to aviation, absolutely nuts!

I am a big model kit builder, and I have yet to find a "one stop shop" place like these folks offer.

Hey, wondering about those rare 1\18 and 1\24 scale big size models of your favorite planes, look no further, they got it!

As far as sims are concerned, I refer to them as the F4 Microprose "dudes" (flying Jesus?), almost religious about it, needless to say that we mutualy agree.

To make a long story short Shurem, The cool thing about the States is that you have those Specialty stores in any town you go to, one track minded individuals that sell and feel passionate about only one thing, I wish we had this in Europe, unfortunately, Europe being trendy, we'll have to wait for a long time.

Cheers.
