bought the F/A-18 flight sim. Loads to about 71% then gives me an error message. States "problem with move data soundz.rnw -117" or words to that affect. Anybondy have a similar problem or an idea of how to fix? Tried e-mailing Janes web site tech support but no response back. Any help appreciated.

Could be a bad CD. Try copying the contents of the CD to the harddrive and running the setup from there. If you get an error during the copy then it's probably a bad CD.

thanks for the tips. Sys Specks are:
PII 266
128 SDRam
Diamond Video card
SoundBlaster

Been a while since I put this together with a friend doing most of it. My short term memory is good for only a week at the most. Time for an upgrade. Will try loading the game on one of my computers at work (much newer) and see if I have the same problem. Thanks again for your posts.

A fairly apt handle, yes?

I too experienced extensive problems loading the game. Multiple attempts to load the game on the 4 systems I have at home only resulted in 1 successful install!

I spent a good part of my weekend troubleshooting to no avail. What's more, the systems don't share motherboard, processor or OS specs. Anyone with any ideas. We're desperate.

My only thought is that EA's copy protection may result in read errors during install on a number of CD-ROM models. Sound possible. HELP!

One of the reasons I still run a ridiculously basic computer is that it almost always loads Sim. Once, it did not; I De-Fraged and THEN it did. I have a Pal over here with an "Enviably Nice" computer; HE has his problems, I am told, due to the various Driver Programs he must contend with.

I still believe in two technical principles: (1) Keep it Simple, Stupid, and (2) Performance is the Reciprocal of Reliability. So... I would suggest trying to load any "troublesome" program on as Basic a Video/Sound configuration you can. THEN, remember that the Fancier (nicer, faster) Video you have...the "fussier" is your system to "gremlins"...

If you already knew this...or can prove me wrong, I'll just eat crow and quietly drift off again...But I did try to help...
