I found a converter for p3d which is for 3d max studio.
Anyways I don't know how to post the file so if anyone wants it e-mail me.

This is the readme file:

Readme for P3D 3D Studio Max Plugin and POFGen converter. We are releasing the P3D Max Plugin and
POFGen utility as an unsupported release. These are the utilities used by the artists and designers
of Outrage used to create the models and rooms for Descent 3.

________________________

INSTALLATION
________________________

To install the P3D Max Plugin, copy the file P3dexp2.dle into the "Plugins" sub directory of
your 3D Studio Max installation folder.

To install the POFGen utility, just copy it into a folder that is in one of your path directories.
Optionally you can copy it to any directory, you will just have to execute the utility given it's
full path (e.g. you copy it to C:\utils\, to execute it you will need to run
"C:\utils\pofgen <options> ... ").

________________________

USAGE
________________________

To use the P3D Plugin, first create your models in 3D Studio Max. It is often helpful to reset
the transforms on the model using the reset xform command in 3dsmax. Then select
which models you would like to export. Go to File|Export and export it out as a P3D file. This
will save the selected models to the P3D file. You can now use POFGen to convert the P3D file to an
OOF File. And possibly in a future release (current version is 0.92) of D3Edit, import the P3D file
as a room.

To use the POFGen utility to convert a P3D file to an OOF File (Outrage Object Format), execute
POFGen with the needed options, which includes the exported P3D file. For example, from a command
line prompt you would execute "C:\utils\pofgen test.p3d".

Autocad 2000 can save files in 3d studio max format....do it all the time for the GA flight sim Fly! Also a free program called Truespace that can convert back and forth between Studio Max and dxf files....
Just thought I would throw that out.

well folks I tried and it's a pity.
I can't give you any screenshots of flying heads etc. I think this plug inn was ment for an other game. however this was really a very, very close hit. maybe the program itselves need some improvements. the both p3d formats, read in wordpath, looks familiar. but the PIXEL p3d file always starts with P3DV004. maybe Kawasaki, Daab or Pretzel (or other folks of course) know how to deal with this. I've mailed this case to Joel Welling.

the quest continues,

but we will conquer pixel...

grrrrroet,

arnold

he persian,

the problem is simple i think. just watch a 1k usaf p3d file and a home-made p3d file of 1k. the usaf p3d file starts with p3dv004 (like it is a version number). but furthermore both files are looking very similar. I think somebody at Pixel is growin' red.

we must bite through now. i think were almost there.

you found a very interesting thing! and although it is for an other game. the plugin is very small thus surveyable and easy to download for us all.

let's continue and unraffel this plug!

by the way pers, could you export files to make them viewable in th game??? I supose i misunderstood (as i almost always do)

groet,

arnold

arnold, persian_ace, anyone else - I didn't really understand what you said the problems with that plugin are...

Did you succeed in any way to convert (import) .p3d files to workable 3D models in 3D Studio, and then change them even a little?

Did you manage to export any 3D model to .p3d format and actually see it in USAF?

Persian_ace, when you say "blueprints" what do you mean? Standard names for programmable sub-parts?

Arnold, I got your email, but I didn't have time to Diff the files yet, nor will I have time this week. Sorry.

daab,

no i was not able to import or export p3d files in/out 3d studio max. but i was able to make a p3d file. but the problem is that this is a different file format but it looks almost the same.

as i said before the usaf p3d file starts with p3dv004 and the max plug p3d file starts with an other code and is hiding no source info. the usaf file shows a lot of "?"
.

!!!!but "j@#$us" is'nt there anybody out there who can help!!!! it is only a 500k plugin! there must be a way

does anybody ( I will send programmers the same info about this isue as i sended to daab)know how i can vieuw an *.exe file from inside?

let me know at

veeman1@zonnet.nl

anytime,

arnold

oh he daab and all,

happy holydays!
