I applied the patch and I noticed it reduced my USAF.exe file from 5.7MB (before patch) to like 270KB (after patch). So when I hit USAF icon on my desktop to start the game, it gives me a new blue screen and then error message of "please insert CD" though the CD is in the drive.

So what I did was copy the USAF.exe file from the CD-Rom back into the game directory and it works. But then is the game patched this way?

I checked the UME (after patch) and the Mig 29s are now controllable and flyable which is what the patch does. Also, when I start the game, it says Version 1.02F which is correct. But i am still unsure if it is fully patched since i had to copy the USAF.exe file from the CD Rom back into the game directory, overwriting the 270KB USAF.exe file there.

Anyone face this problem??

You should have left the 270KB USAF.exe file alone. I believe that is the "front-end" file. There's a new file called USAF.icd, with a size of 5.7MB and a date of 1/6/00. Its property says it's an executable file. I think the front-end file links to it.

yes, i noticed those files (270KB USAF.exe and the new 5+ MB icd)are there. if i leave them there and click the game icon to start the game, it keeps telling me to insert the CD though the CD is already in my drive.
