jimjim,

Mrs. Z has been searching high and low for butter tart pics just for you, but to no avail. If it will help, I had a mini pecan pie after lunch this afternoon.

Alright, I have to go to bed before I collapse on top of the keyboard...

Europeans (and possibly Asians and Australians), I leave this thread in your capable hands until morning.

Besides, Mrs. Z is breaking out the whips.

EAW may be getting old, but a little cosmetic work can do a lot for an aging masterpiece!

Pecan pie is similar in taste to butter tarts but it doesn't taste good with mayonnaise. It could also be that butter tarts is a double entendre? As daylight arrives in Australia, is Frank Ifield still popular there and do you have butter tarts? Apparently the U.S.A. doesn't have that treat. I hope this posting is not off the topic.

Simple, quick and just lovely:

The Cinnamon Apple Cake

You need
100 grams of sugar
100 grams of flower
100 grams of butter
10-12 apples (preferably sweet ones)
cinnamon
vanilla ice cream
20 minutes for preparations
30 minutes for baking

Remove the skin from the apples as well as core and seeds, and cut the cleaned apples into thin slices. Put the slices in a buttered pie-form and spread the cinnamon over them (optional: add some extra sugar if the apples aren't too sweet). Don't hold on the cinnamon.

Mix the flower, butter and sugar to form a solid dough. With your fingers peel small pieces ("pebbles") of the dough and drop them over the apples. Cover the apples completely with it.

Put all of it in the oven at 200 degrees Celcius for approximately 30 minutes. When the crust (the dough) is brownish and crispy, it's ready.

Serve a slice of ice cream on a plate and put the warm apple cake on top and next to it.

Don't wait for it to melt... gather people at the table and

ENJOY!

Over and out,
aro

Just thought I'd stick my head back in to see what you guys were up to today (been incognito for a couple of months) and what do I find but a completely pointless thread that has suckered everyone in to .... oh s#$t ... it got me as well. Well seeing as though I'm here now good luck Zhukie there must be at least 500 in this if it can drag me out of the EAW forum woodwork
Cheers

Good morning fellas!

Just doing my bit here from the homefront. We ladies and war widows must do our share for the war effort, you know. I'm planning a Victory Garden and everything.

Donster, do you suppose that if I reach 100 posts, you'll present me with my very own pinup of a not-overdressed, good-looking fella?

Holy smokes !

Lay down and get a little 10 hour nap, and wake up to find the thread at almost two hundred replies.

And tarts everywhere ! Even Mrs Z is talkin' 'bout saucy tarts.

Ahhh...it's good for the soul.

Tarts in . . (fill in the blank, Brigs)

Tarts in my cockpit,
Tarts on my wing,
All the tarts are everywhere.....
back to you, OldGuy

And someone find a butter tart for jimjim.

Maybe if we do hit 500 Doug will break out his Forum Admin's Survival Kit again and share some of that Guinness with us. It's mm mm good.
