I've purchased MiG Alley after reading the excellent review of it on this site. I installed it, but when I got to start it it locks my computer up when the game window loads, I don't even get to the frontend. This lock up requires a hard reboot, CTRL ALT DEL do nothing. I've tried reinstalling to no avail. My system specs: PII-400 (not O/Ced) 64 Megs RAM ATI AiW 128 16meg C-media sound card DirectX 7.0 2gigs free on main and game drives I have all the updated drivers for my hardware, I run the desktop at 16 bit and 1280x1024, I can't get to the preference screen in order to adjust the game resolution. Any help would be greatly appriciated. von Manstein

There are many (too many ) posts on this subject. Check them out and you'll find an answer. Meanwhile, here's a (incomplete) list of things you can do:
- Set your desktop to 16 bit colors
- Set your desktop to a resolution equal or higher to what you'll be flying MA at
- Disable all MIDI devices from Control Panel/Multimedia
- Disable Auto-padlock from the game's preferences
- Install DirectX from MA CD (v6.1 I think) or try with DirectX 7a
- Kill all background tasks (except explorer and systray)
- Know that there's a known memory leak in the SO campaign planning module, so if you spend a lot of time planning a mission it's best to save, reboot, load and then fly. (to see how much system resources you have left right click on My Computer, Properties, Performance tab)
Hope this helps, and good luck! Don't give up. Few of us were able to run MA right out of the box, but once we did, we ALL agreed this sim kicks *** . <-- HEY! I wrote *** and it automatically put *** in its place! Nice, but scary... automatic censorship! ------------------ James T. Bong A MiG on my six is a MiG in a very good defensive position
