Just a quick question. I was trying to download the latest patch and once I got to 19.4 mb, my browser, I.E 5, advised me of a server time out and my download stopped...arghhhhh! I was so close. Anyway, I was downloading from the Flanker 2.0 web page. Is there a setting I need to change on my system when downloading large files? I don't have the luxury of a cable modem or DSL....some day. Anyway, thanks for any feedback.

Grif,

As far as I know, there shouldn't be any setting in your browser needed to accomodate large downloads. But I know your pain - get a download manager like Gozilla - it will resume a broken download like that. I use it on every big download now. It can be found at their site www.go-zilla.com or something like that.

Download managers WON'T work with the 2.03 d/l!
Just do it overnight and pray for the best!

I would advice against using download managers. I've always been weary of the "resume file download" features first availabe in FTP clients and now with these download managers.

As for timeouts, considering you're downloading a great deal of information, it's going to take several minutes, maybe even over an hour to get it all down..in this time frame one of the 10-20 routers between you and the site could drop just enough packets to get outside of the tcp window and create a timeout, or the server you're downloading on could get saturated enough to not throw out any more packets in a certain amount of time causing a timeout.

I would consider that bad advice Hagar.
I use Download accelerator for all downloads.
The resume download feature is a great help.
