Have you ever switched to "tower view" and then pressed the .del key at take off? Try it and also zoom in with the * key as it gives you a moving fly-by view. Incredibly addictive eye candy! This sim is becoming a major time consumer for me lately!
(Of course you will have to press F11 several times until you are taken to the corrrect base you are taking off from.)

Yeah... and wouldn't it be nice if this feature actually worked when you're viewing a TRK playback?? As that's when this feature would matter a big deal - as it stands now, it's still a broken bug.

Yeah I agree, they NEED to correct this. It would make for an awesome airshow track playback view.

What amazes me about this feature is that it IS possible to fly some really fancy airshow moves from the tower view. Because the Flanker is such a big jet, you can tell what attitude the Su is at, and fly it with a fair degree of precision.
I do agree that they need to fix TRK thing though.

To Snowman: Try a padlock operation (Keypad Del) from Alt-F9 view when some plane is landing to the carrier (see KeyCommandsPatch2.doc in Su27 folder for details). Enjoy!
To all: We hope to keep tower padlock commands in tracks in 2.03 patch and in 2.5 upgrade. Thank you for your remarks.
