Hey BK, glad you caught the reference and took it in the spirit in which it was intended. I hadn't noticed the Sideshow Bob thing, but now that you mention it... By the way, in that very same episode, you may recall, an Air Force officer describes the Harrier as "the pride of the US Air Force, the British-made Harrier jump jet - one of our most dollar-intensive ordnance delivery vectors!" Great line, but (as I'm sure you know) the AV8B is a substantially modified and license-built-in-America aircraft, used by the USMC, and not particularly expensive as jet fighters go (compared to the F-22, for example). Still, pretty funny. What about the episode where the F-14 launches an AIM-9 which hits his wingman, and then launches another which loops around (we all know only the Archer can do that ) and destroys the launching aircraft? Then the pilots get in a shouting match (about education spending, I think) as they float down on their defective parachutes!

HAHA How about in another episode when they bug Groundskeeper Willie, and he's identified as an Iraqi fighter!

From the Falcon 4.0 Forum:

"Thanks a lot, Hasbro. You are a bunch of idiots. Do the right thing and unload the source code to someone who gives a **** .

Heartless bastards, any more coal?

Kobra, out."

You may not like or even understand Hasbro's decision, but you don't have all the facts and are out of line calling them names. Hey, I work for their rival Mattel and I have more respect for them than you do. Pretty negative there, by the way.

From the F/A-18 Forum:

"Your 'recommended' specs on the box are total ******** and you know it. Itscalled 'lying', if you are looking for a word. Creative marketing its not. Lying.

Kobra, out."

My collegues C.J. Martin and Matt Wagner are both dedicated and honest men. Both put much of their own free time into the flight sim community. They are not "liars" and do not deserve to have their integrity questioned by you or anyone else. Also, a very negative posture on your part.

Be a standup guy and start apologizing.

Carl

I posted a topic called blatantly "a new marketing strategy" regarding an fps counter in future Flanker products/upgrades/patches. I was wondering if you read this (much too) long post, and I'm really curious what you think of it. My guess is you are also responsable for marketing, aren't you? Heck, here's the url:

cheers

Flexx,

I've read it. There are some interesting ideas there that we have been considering for some time. It is obvious that with niche products like sims and wargames we have do something other than retail sales in stores.

Thanks for the input.

Cheers,
Carl

Zebraday! Break left!

From the quotes that Carl dug up, it sounds to me that, you are like most of us. We love our games! We love to see those games taken to as high a level as possible, either officially, or through hex editing. While we love our games, we hate misrepresentation, or what we perceive as such, in game specs, options, or features.
Perhaps your more vocal than some of us, that may be unpalatable to some, still its no crime.

Thanks for reading Carl!
If ever a real fps utility is added in a future Flanker product, be sure to include it in the demo also. If it works good, be sure to present and document it as a feature.
If you ever need input or test the fps-counter, I'm there .

cheers

Dear Janes, I think you have a great sim, but it needs some work in the performance department. I was angry because I felt I was decieved by the specs on the box, but being a flight simmer for about 15 years, I should have known better.

Dear Hasbro,

Kiss my a**. You destroyed any hope of continuing the Falcon 4.0 tradition and any other hardcore sim for that matter. Have fun with your Pokemon and all that other crap you sell, Falcon was and is a great sim, its too bad you had to get out of the game. Now, be men about it and sell the source code to a developer who gives a sh*t about flight sims. You only care about money. I saw what some of your top execs make, must have made those 2200 jobs seem small in comparison, or else you wouldnt have fired them 2 weeks before christmas.
Heartless bastards.

Kobra, out.

Sorry, Carl, Hasbro is scum on my list and they are right at the top.

It's tough to justify doing combat flight sims in today's market. They made a business decision and it was a difficult one I am sure.

Don't take it personally.

Carl
