Also, the color of wind isn't right either. While I'm at it, I'd like SSI to know that they've got the colors wrong in all the US fighters. Heck, the way they have it now make them all look brand stinking new!! And that's not right!! It is an issue that needs to be addressed!! Oh yeah, one more thing, clouds are NOT all pure white, they have shades of gray on the edges - this makes the clouds in Flanker2 invalid.

So, what other mindless nitpicks can you wonderful people come up with? I've done my share for the day.

Easy there tex! Someone was just asking some questions about an ocean that looks different from pretty much any other ocean seen in a flight sim. Stinger responded with some good answers and as far as I can tell, everyone is happy... no harm no foul. I don't get the defensiveness.

well guess what Xjazz, a good SIM must also "simulate" the environment realistically in the way it looks and interacts with you. Since the sea happens to be part of the environment (believe it or not), it must also be rendered in the most realistic fashion possible. Photorealistic scenery adds a lot to the feeling of immersion, after all isnt that what simming is all about in the first place...immersion.

carni

PS. The term photo realistic painting artist is an oxymoron. If its a painting it cant be photo realistic.

Hey, Carn....
I agree with you on everything but the photo realistic painting part. Paintings can be photorealistic. All it means is that the painting looks "as real as a photo" or "like a photo". In fact, there are and have been many painters who work in this way. Ever seen Gerhard Richter's candle paintings? Indistinguishable from photos.... no pun :-)

Anyway, about Flanker's water, I don't see why people are going into such fits about this. It's just a minor criticism and probably something that they can fix relatively easily. I didn't say it made the game any less desireable.
Like I said, it looks correct from high altitudes, but down low it is too light even for the brightest sun conditions. Only shallow water is that light, and I doubt carriers operate in lagoons.
No biggie either way, but if it's something that's easy to fix, they should.
