Just when the gaming world was starting to think WWII air combat sims were dead and gone, along comes 1C: Maddox Games and IL-2 Sturmovik. What could a sim featuring an air war over the Russian Front in planes most Westerners have never heard of have to offer? If you've been following this sim's development you already know the answer, if not, then you are in for a treat. Our Jennifer Mitchell, aviatrix extraordinaire, reviews what is sure to become one of the greatest air combat sims of all time.

Great job Jen!

Very thorough look at a highly refined title.
As you pointed out, "too unfamiliar to be of much interest to western flight simmers", I
am surprised at how well I am liking this. Well done review.

Excellent read Jen!

I remember there was some talk about those black squares (Distant planes), before release. Someone came up with the idea of, as the planes got further away it's colour would begin to merge to the background colour, i.e ground, sky, etc. I reckon it'd be better than the present system...Maybe the Maddox team could sneak it into the next addon code ?
Anyway...Bought it. Love it!

Jen,

How much HD space did this use? I'm trembling on the verge of buying.
