This time around, Len "Viking1" takes a look at weapons, targeting, damage modeling and gameflow in Eurofighter Typhoon.

Wow. This game looks much better after reading the second article. But I will wait for a final conclusion about weather this game is ok for the hardcore fans.

I agree. I think Len's starting to like it more as he's playing it.

Can't wait for the article on the campaign!!

And keeps his left turn signal on the whole time? Hitler was much worse than that guy" -- overheard on plastic.com

I'm not sure we're all on the same frequency here. I've played (or tried playing) EF Typhoon for a couple of weeks now and I am very disappointed. The FM is lousy - arcade like, the AI spaceship-like and the terrain is a real cop-out, we're almost back to polygons. The camapaign style is worth applauding however, but this sim is purely an entertaining game - in no way is it a valid military flight simulator on the level of Flanker or Falcon. I expected more from DID, they led the world when Tornado was first released some 10 years ago. This game is for teenagers and gamers who care little about realism.

Definitely a wrong frequency thing. Tornado was made by DI (Digital Integration. EF Typhoon is made by DID (Digital Image Design)

DI made f16 Combat Pilot, Tornado, Apache Longbow, Hind, F-16 Fighting Falcon and F/A-18E Super Hornet. Some members of the original team formed Razorworks and made EE: Apache - Havoc and EE: Comanche - Hokum

DID made F-29 Retaliator, TFX, EF2000, F22 ADF, TAW and EF Typhoon.

It seems to me you only like the study sims. If that's true you'll never like EF Typhoon. I on the other hand also enjoy the fast and furious gameplay that EF Typhoon offers. I do like Falcon 4, Janes F 18 and Flanker 2. But they take to much time and sometimes feel to much like work. Having to memorize over 100 key combinations and doesn't necissarily make a sim more real but it certainly makes it more difficult to play. I think you're way to harsh on the graphics. I think that none of the flight sims I mentioned has better graphics then EF Typhoon.

Okay on re reading I must mention that the last comment excludes EE: Comanche - Hokum which has beter graphics and that I not only judge on detail but also on a reasonable framerate (as experienced on my AMD Athlon 1 Ghz - nVidia TNT2 ultra box).
