It's been a long time since the release of the excellent 688(I) Hunter/Killer, roughly four years. Now Sonalysts will go one better with an entirely new game and new challenges. In this background study we look at the 688(I) attack sub and remember Jane's landmark sim.

Aaghh, Janes. I remember the days. It was the time of kick arse simulations second to none. The undisputed king of the 'study' simulation community. Even for the 'light' simulation community. Although I myself play flight sims rather than naval sims, the principles remain the same.

Alas Janes is gone. I just hope EA is still serious about releasing a game that is serious, intelligent, realistic and well supported. With the sim community awash with eager, private project software teams, it could be very easy for EA to lose it's significance in this genre if sims like Sub Command do not measure up.

Tip for the day to EA... Support your product!
