We just received our latest pre-beta preview copy of IL-2 Sturmovik and we've begun our preview testing. In the meantime, we thought we'd provide a few high-rez, in-game screenshots of this highly anticipated offering from Maddox Games and Blue Byte Software.

Oh the pain. Not sure my pocket book is going to handle the game and the new HD to put it on. Oh well, guess the kids will have to have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a few days. After all, we must all sacrifice somtimes.

HOLY COW! Looking GREAT! It looks so good, I want to write a poem about it, but I can't think of anything that rhymes with Sturmovik...

Hi,

I wonder. Which screen resolution did you use? Was it with full details? How fast did it play?

I've read that this game requires a LOT of power so I'm not sure if I will buy it because I'm not sure it will run on my PII450. But if it runs well on you PII350, well, maybe, I'll buy it...

Mobistar,

I had all the detail cranked for those pics and was running it at 1024 x 768 resolution.

And yes, it's going to take a fairly current system to run it with full detail.

Have run it on two systems now: PII 450 with 128MB and TNT2/32 and 1 GHz Athlon with 256MB and GF2/64.

Both systems all settings max at 1024x768.
Smooth as silk on the Athlon, occasional stutter on the PII. But this is PRE beta and not optimized yet. Both with clouds ON. I think the game is going to be very impressive on anything more than a PII 450.
